Self-organized segregation

December 9, 2016

My current research is about self-organized systems. The “Emergent property” is a term defined in systems theory as well as philosophy, art, etc. It is basically a characteristic of the system which only “emerges” if the elements of the system interact with each other. While this characteristic is probably not apparent when we look at the “rules” these elements or agents interact with each other, nevertheless the emergent property will eventually appear once these elements are given enough time to interact with each other. Life itself, for example is an emergent property of chemistry and physics :-)
